There is no such thing as a slow news day — even in the heat of August. Quartz journalists appeared on-air around the world to discuss everything from the biggest headlines to the most obscure aspects of their obsessions. Here are a few highlights:

  • Editor in Chief Kevin Delaney appeared on CBS This Morning- Saturday to discuss the future of autonomous vehicles. (Read all about them in our Obsession email, here.) He also made appearances on CNBC’s Fort Knox and Squawk Alley to discuss economic developments by way of IPOs and tariffs.
  • Hong Kong-based Mary Hui continues to give on the ground insight into the protests in Hong Kong, making on-air appearances around the world to share her reporting, including NPR Morning Edition, Al Jazeera, PBS Newshour, Radio Wales, BBC Up All Night & World Business Report, ABC Australia, KPFA, Tech 2025, and Cheddar.
  • London-based senior reporter Akshat Rathi made multiple appearances on Monocle Radio to discuss the day’s news, climate change, and Amazon deforestation. Future of finance reporter John Detrixhe also contributed to the discussion on Monocle, appearing on their show The Globalist to discuss business news.
  • Quartz’s resident space reporter, Tim Fernholz, spent some time with Cheddar to discuss SpaceX’s latest launch.
  • Quartz reporters served as expert guests on a number of BBC radio shows: Alison Griswold appeared on Wake Up to Money to discuss WeWork; Lila MacLellan broke down the case for unlimited paid leave on Business Daily; and Anabelle Timsit talked robots on Tech Tent. Legal reporter Ephrat Livani also got granular on In Touch, discussing how a case against Domino’s Pizza could end up in the US Supreme Court.
  • Vox’s Today, Explained was joined by Quartz reporter Manavi Kapur to discuss the situation in Kashmir.
  • Quartz global lifestyle correspondent Jenni Avins was on Iowa Public Radio to share her reporting on Marianne Williamson.
  • Matthew De Silva, Quartz’s cryptocurrency reporter, joined Radio New Zealand to break-down Facebook’s cryptocurrency, Libra.
